Grilling season has officially began! Although, if you know me at all, you know that I am firing up my Bbq throughout all of Canada’s seasons. Can’t let a little bit of snow get in the way of delicious grilled delights! Today I couldn’t decide what protein to grill, it was a debate between sausage and flank steak… Then I thought, why not both? Flank steak is perfect for stuffing. I have a recipe on here where I used peppers and onions to fashion the flank steak into a roulade before grilling. Now that was fantastic but how about I up the ante a little and do a double protein roulade? It’s is quite easy as all I did was slice the flank steak into a strip and wrapped it around some seasoned spicy sausage and grill! Although, grilling may not be the best choice for this dish (sacrilege, I know)! The issue was that the sausage has a tendency to fall between the grill but as long as you make sure that’s it’s cooked well before flipping, you should be okay!
I paired this meaty main with a fresh garden salad and that was enough for both myself and the Vegetable hater. I think when corn season starts it would be delicious to grill the corn alongside the steak and have that as a side, YUM! There are so many variations that you can make to this dish, whether you season the steak and sausage differently (Cajun spice anyone?) or if you add a marinade prior to grilling. Either way, this dish is a surefire winner to satisfy even the pickiest of palettes no matter what you’re in the mood for, sausage or beef!
